Short hills house

Moving from an NYC apartment to a home in Short Hills, NJ with a new born baby and a toddler…

some extra space was more than welcome.

An important part of the project was to use the newly acquired space to the fullest.

Existing millwork was revised to provide more concealed storage. We worked to create hidden storage and made efficient use of closets to keep the open spaces clear of clutter, providing a sense of calm.

Another important aspect of the design was to weave in the clients Chinese culture through family heirlooms in a modern way.

All of the lighting was replaced with more classic/modern options including allied maker sconces, a Sklo pendant, United Alabaster oversized pendants and a custom Mirei Monticelli piece in the bedroom and Bocci table lamps.

New furniture pieces include an MS Wood dining set, coffee tables by Artisan & Menu, Side tables by 57 Street Design, La Cividina bench and Modo10 nightstands.

Artworks by Livia Mourao, LN Le Cheviller, Patty Jo Beaton, Salvatore Balice, Judy Chia Hui Hsu and Cheryl Harrison.

The home was designed to have designated family spaces as well as more formal spaces.

The 2nd floor contains an office, kids rooms, an ensuite, and a wash room.

The basement was furnished to include an office, a gym, a lounge, a kitchenette and a large play area.
